One of my favourite pinball machines is the : Starship Troopers by Sega. The only thing I disliked were the pretty boring red 7-segment displays, used to indicate the amount of Bugs that have to be “killed”. Because the Bugs each have their own color :

When playing the pinball I found the four red 7-segment displays a little annoying, would it not be much easier and more beautiful to give each Bug their own 7-segment display color? That should not be to difficult I thought, just order the correct colored 7-segment displays that have the same layout as the original red ones… That seemed to be a little bit to optimistic! No colored display were available with the same layout. So I designed a new printed circuit board, this implements 4 high quality colored displays. These colors represent the correct Bug colors.

When playing the Starship Troopers, with the new PCB installed, it’s much easier to see how many of which Bugs (color) should be “killed”. The PCB is “plug and play”, the Starship Troopers Color Display board does not contain mounting hardware. You can easily use the mounting hardware of the original PCB.
